Your Pre-Application and Formal

FAMILY ASSESSMENT
(Home
Study) |
$1,200 |
|
An additional $200 will
be charged for Kazakhstan and Russian assessments due to the
immense amount of paperwork required for those countries.
|
For a Colorado family
adopting through the networking program, IAN must
complete the family assessment/home study. A social
worker spends nine to twelve hours of interview time
with you. This includes discussing your plans and
preparations for adoption. Documents supporting the
social worker's assessment will be required, and a home
visit is conducted to view your home and neighborhood.
The social worker completes a family assessment report
to be submitted to the Colorado Department of Human
Services for approval, and then to USCIS for approval.
The following documents are required for completion of a
Colorado family assessment:

PRE-PLACEMENT FEE
(PARENT
TRAINING) |
$700-$900
($900 for Russia) |
|
This
fee covers adoption education and training and office
administration costs. Colorado Law requires adoptive parents
to complete 24 hours of international adoption training
before their family assessment can be approved by CDHS. Your
24 hours of training will help make the adoption experience
easier and prepare you for the lifelong process of adoption.
The adoption education provided to you includes attending
classes at the IAN office, and online training facilitated
by IAN.
Part
of this fee covers IAN administration costs such as local
telephone calls, postage, stationary, personnel, marketing,
and miscellaneous overhead costs of IAN. It also includes
interfacing and coordination with CDHS and USCIS for
approval of your family assessment and I-600A. |

|
POST
PLACEMENT SUPERVISION |
$800+ |
|
After
you return home with your child, an IAN social worker will
provide support and counseling for the adoptive family to
ensure the physical and emotional well being of your child;
to ensure development of successful attachment between you
and your child; to ensure positive adjustment to the
adoption of all family members; and to help resolve related
issues. Three visits are conducted at approximately two
weeks, three and six months after the child is home.
Unlimited telephone contact is always available to you. The
social worker will prepare two post placement reports, which
are required for the validation of the adoption in U.S.
courts.
If
your adoptive country (such as Russia or Kazakhstan among
others) has additional post placement requirements over our
three visits within six months, they are $200 per
visit/report for one child, $100 for an additional child. |

|
MISCELLANEOUS FEES AND EXPENSES |
|
|
During
the adoption process, you will be responsible for
miscellaneous fees and expenses. These may include, but are
not limited to: fees for obtaining birth, marriage, divorce,
and death certificates, physical exams for all members of
the household, notarization, apostilization, authentication,
and legalization fees for documents, USCIS fees, Colorado
Department of Human Services (CDHS) fees and other
expenses.
Additional mileage fees / hourly charges may be incurred if
a social worker has to travel more than an hour away to
conduct a homestudy meeting. |
